Dr. Cortez is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine. He holds a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from California State University, Hayward and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his pediatric residency training at the University of California, San Francisco, Fresno pediatric program. Dr. Cortez is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and has been in private practice with the John Muir Medical Group since 2000. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. He was previously the Medical Director for the John Muir Mobile Health Clinic and is presently on the Board of Directors for John Muir Medical Group.
Dr. Cortez grew up in Concord and attended Ygnacio Valley High School. He lives in Alamo with his wife Erin and their three children, Lucia, Nicholas and Dillon. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, football and soccer. He donates his time providing care to the uninsured and has traveled to Central America to provide healthcare to children living in orphanages.
Dr. Cortez is known for his collection of “fun” neckties. His collection includes super heroes, cartoon characters, children’s art, and many more .
